ETA Homecoming Prom

This past weekend, thanks to the wonderful planning skills of an ETA friend and a Korean friend who we met while at orientation at KNU, we had the first ever ETA Homecoming Prom. As you may remember I spent the first 6 weeks of my year in Korea at Kangwon National University for orientation. Those 6 weeks were some of the best (and worst) times in Korea and I think a lot of us miss the college-y feel of orientation. Since very few of us have had the opportunity to go back to KNU or to see our Korean friends there, our 2 friends decided to plan a prom.
I got there on Friday with Seth, the 2 planners and another ETA friend. Everyone else arrived right before the prom started on Saturday so the 5 of us were in charge of buying everything, setting up and decorating. My Korean friend was able to get one of the university cafeterias for us to use for our dance, so we spent about 3 or 4 hours decorating the place. For 4 guys and 1 girl decorating, the place ended up looking pretty good. I even painted a mural type thing for people to take their "prom pictures" in front of.
The prom itself was a lot of fun. We had maybe 30 people there. We played beer pong and flip cup which was a nice change since we never have the facilities to do so here. We had a DJ, a balloon drop and a pinata filled with small Soju bottles as well. Afterwards we went to our favorite Chuncheon bar, the Milwaukee Bucks.
Here are some photos from the night:
