Today was Sports Day at my school. Coming into today, I had no idea what Sports Day involved or what I was going to have to do. As it turned out, I didn't have to anything except enjoy the beautiful weather, be treated like a celebrity by my kids, meet some parents, run a lap around the track, and eat lots of food. It was the most fun I've had at school yet. It was great seeing my kids outside of the classroom, especially the ones that have behavior problems in my class. Everywhere I went groups of my little kids would crowd around me shouting "hello" and random things in Korean and English. My friend Kate came to hang out for the second half of the day which was fun because I had someone to make comments with about what was going on, and seeing my kids' reactions to her were great: "Teacha, friend?" "Oh so beautiful!" "Wo-a, weh-gook-in!". One highlight of my day was winning a gigantic candy that looks like a Korean battleship by throwing a dart at a magnetic spinning board. My kids went crazy when they saw I had won. I was also dragged around the track by one my kids during one of their relay races. Here are some photos and a video from the day...
